Lamine Yamal and a late Raphinha penalty secured victory for Barcelona over Real Sociedad which moves them back up to second in la Liga.
Barcelona were value for victory with Sociedad stopper Alex Remiro called upon to make a number of saves in the second half.
The opener came five minutes before the break, just after Raphinha had been denied by the post, when Ilkay Gundogan slipped a square ball to Yamal and he calmly struck home first time.
Raphinha looked a perennial threat and was denied by Remiro before getting the chance to score after the referee ruled for a penalty kick when his free kick struck Alvaro Odriozola’s arm and, with regular taker Robert Lewandowski off the field, he made no mistake from 12 yards out.
The win lifts Barcelona a point clear of Girona with three games remaining, Sociedad remain in seventh.
For much of the year, he has looked an island up front, not finding cohesive partnership with the other Barcelona forwards. This has led to him likely ending the year with less than 20 league goals for the first time in less than a decade.
Perhaps a way forward will be in the way he played in the first half where, rather like his replacement at Bayern Munich Harry Kane, he dropped deep off the front line and played balls through to team-mates.
Ilkay Gundogan was a willing runner to find and so it proved for the opening goal when the Pole’s perfect through-ball gave the former Manchester City man the opportunity to set up Lamine.
With rumours of Barcelona hoping to adjust his contract, with his money set to rise in his third year at the club, the 36-year-old’s future is in doubt despite him having two years left on his contract.
The likes of Fermin Lopez and Gavi could all be beneficiaries if Lewandowski plays in such a role next season and performances like this may make Xavi campaign to retain his services.
He still makes mistakes which remind you he is just 17, with a couple of occasions when dwelling on the ball on the edge of the area denying Barcelona chances. That said, he is already one of the most exciting players in the world. As always he had the most successful dribbles on the pitch and he almost scored a very Lionel Messi-like goal beating a couple of passes and then playing a one-two (Ilkay Gundogan) with only a desperate challenge from Jon Pacheco denying him. The calm way he struck home the opener should give him confidence he can dramatically increase his tally of five league goals in the coming seasons.

38′RAPHINIA SHOOTS AGAINST THE POST! It was curling away from Remiro but strike the inside of the post and came back too fast for Gundogan to control, with the rebound going wide.
40′GOAL! BARCELONA (LAMINE) 1-0 REAL SOCIEDAD! Lewandowski came deep and then played the ball through to Gundogan and he squeezed it square to Lamine who calmly guided home first time into the corner.
65′ RAPHINIA WITH ANOTHER WONDERFUL EFFORT! And it took a fine stop just under the crossbar from Remiro to deny him.
67′MENDEZ JUST MISSES FAR POST! He turned Paredes brilliantly to get the ball on his left foot but he steered the ball just wide of the far post.
77′ FERRAN ALMOST SCORES WITH SECOND TOUCH! He controlled a ball on the edge of the box, then shot towards the goalkeeper’s left corner but again Remiro makes a good save.
90+2′ PENALTY! After VAR the referee awards a spot kick. Bizarrely it was not the handball first focused on but the earlier shot from Raphinia’s free kick which the Barcelona players did not appeal for.

In der ersten halben Stunde kamen die Gäste aus San Sebastian in Person eines Ex-Unioners noch zu mehreren guten Gelegenheiten. Danach übernahmen aber die Katalanen das Zepter – und ließen beim 2:0-Heimerfolg wenig anbrennen.

Nach dem 2:4 beim direkten Konkurrenten Girona wollte der FC Barcelona zuhause wieder an der Überraschungsmannschaft vorbeiziehen, die am Freitag in Alaves (2:2) Punkte liegen gelassen hatte. Etwas dagegen hatten die Gäste von Real Sociedad, die in der Vorwoche mit 2:0 gegen Las Palmas gewonnen hatten und noch um die internationalen Plätze kämpfen.
Den ersten Abschluss der Partie hatten dann auch die Gäste: Über Merino und Oyarzabal kam die Kugel zu Becker, der den Ball aus rund fünf Metern über das Tor schoss (5.). Der Ex-Unioner hatte auch die nächste Chance: Er wurde durch das Zentrum geschickt und scheiterte dann alleine vor ter Stegen, die Szene wurde im Nachgang aber abgepfiffen (19.). Genau wie Beckers nächste Aktion: Wieder entwischte der Stürmer der Barca-Defensive – diesmal überwand er den deutschen Torwart, war jedoch aus dem Abseits gestartet (23.)
Die Katalanen hatten zwar Feldvorteile, kamen aber erst in Minute 27 zu ihrer ersten Gelegenheit, als Lamine Yamal nach Solo an Real Sociedads Keeper Alex Remiro scheiterte. Danach wurde Barca gegen die auf Konter lauernden Gäste nach vorne aktiver, hatte aber erst in der 39. Minute durch einen Raphinha-Schuss aus zweiter Reihe, der an den Pfosten prallte, die nächste Chance. Kurz danach war es soweit: Gündogan wurde aus dem Zentrum bedient und tunnelte Verteidiger Le Normand. Der Ball kam zu Lamine Yamal, der aus wenigen Metern cool blieb – die Führung (40.). Mit 1:0 ging es in die Kabinen.
Nach der Pause verflachte die Partie etwas – große Gelegenheiten blieben, abgesehen von zwei Raphinha-Distanzschüssen, zunächst Mangelware: Der erste Schuss ging knapp drüber (49.), den zweiten fischte Alex Remiro spektakulär aus dem Winkel (65.). Auf der anderen Seite kam Mendez nach einem Gündogan-Ballverlust durch ein starkes Dribbling frei vor das Tor – schob die Kugel aber vorbei (68.).
La Real versuchte es zwar nach vorne, es fehlte aber an zündenden Ideen. Die nächste Chance hatte wieder Barcelona: Der Sekunden vorher eingewechselte Ferran Torres scheiterte per Flachschuss aus rund 16 Metern an Alex Remiro (77.). Die Entscheidung fiel dann in der Nachspielzeit: Wegen eines Odriozola-Handspiels gab es nach Videobeweis Elfmeter für den FCB: Raphinha machte mit dem 2:0 alles klar (90. +3).
Barcelona schob sich damit wieder an Girona vorbei auf den 2. Platz. Real Sociedad bleibt auf Rang 7 in La Liga, hat aber weiter Chancen auf den Einzug ins internationale Geschäft. Bereits am Donnerstag geht es für beide Teams weiter. Barcelona gastiert in Almeria (21.30 Uhr) und San Sebastian empfängt Valencia (22 Uhr).
Atletico Madrid hat sein Heimspiel gegen Celta Vigo knapp mit 1:0 gewonnen und ist der Champions-League-Qualifikation nahe. Den Unterschied machte ein Weltmeister.

Im Heimspiel gegen Celta Vigo ging es für Atletico Madrid darum, den vierten Platz vor Verfolger Bilbao abzusichern. Nach zwei Siegen gegen den direkten Konkurrenten Athletic (3:1) und Mallorca (1:0) tat sich die Elf von Diego Simeone gegen das noch um den Klassenerhalt kämpfende Celta durchaus schwer.
Zwar hatten die Madrilenen von Beginn an mehr vom Spiel, Durchschlagskraft fehlte allerdings über weite Strecken. In ihren Ballbesitzphasen suchten die Hausherren nach Lücken in der Defensive der Gäste, die gut standen und abgesehen von ungefährlichen Annäherungen nur wenig zuließen.
Die beste Möglichkeit für Atleti hatte Lllorente, der nach einem tollen Zuspiel von Koke frei vor Guaida vergab (41.). Wenige Minuten später wurden auch die bis dato harmlosen Gäste zum ersten Mal gefährlich, doch Bambas Flanke wurde von Witsel nur knapp übers Tor abgefälscht. Insgesamt war es ein erster Durchgang ohne viele Höhepunkte, die logische Folge: Torlos ging es in die Kabinen.
Am Spielgeschehen änderte sich nach dem Seitenwechsel nicht wirklich etwas. Die Simeone-Elf hatte den Gegner weitestgehend im Griff, ließ jedoch Präzision und Ideen im Offensivspiel vermissen.
In der 59. Minute gelang Celta Vigo dann der erste Schuss aufs Tor – und der wurde direkt gefährlich: Nach Zuspiel von Bamba zwang Iago Aspas Oblak zu einer Glanzparade (59.). Ein Weckruf, wenn auch nur ein kleiner, für die Gäste, die in der Folge mutiger agierten und immer wieder den Weg nach vorne suchten. Fran Beltran (68.) und Iago Aspas (73.) kamen beide in aussichtsreicher Position zum Abschluss, doch Oblak war beide Male ohne allzu große Probleme zur Stelle.
So sah es nach einer torlosen Nullnummer aus, bis de Paul mit einem Tor aus der Kategorie Weltklasse doch noch die Führung für Atleti erzielte: An der Strafraumkante nahm der Weltmeister den Ball mit der Brust an und versenkte ihn volley zum 1:0-Endstand im rechten Winkel (84.).
Mit dem Sieg haben die Madrilenen die Champions-League-Qualifikation so gut wie sicher. Celta Vigo muss derweil im Abstiegskampf nochmal zittern.
Real Madrid hat sein Auswärtsspiel bei Absteiger Granada hochverdient mit 4:0 gewonnen. Der bereits feststehende spanische Meister brauchte etwas Anlaufzeit, ehe besonders Brahim Diaz nur so vor Spielfreude sprühte.
Warum auch nicht? Brahim Diaz (vorne) überragte in Granada, Fran Garcia erzielte sein erstes Profi-Tor für Real.

Unterschiedlicher hätten die Auftritte der beiden Champions-League-Finalisten nicht aussehen können: Parallel waren Real Madrid (2:1 gegen Bayern) und der BVB (1:0 in Paris) für die Pflichtaufgabe in der Liga verabredet – Dortmund ging in Mainz baden (0:3), der spanische Meister deklassierte Granada nach dem Spalier mit 4:0.
Die auf zehn Positionen veränderten Königlichen, die auch Courtois im Tor hatten und nur erneut auf Rüdiger bauten, ließen es in Andalusien im ersten Abschnitt sehr gemächlich angehen. So kam es auch, dass der bereits abgestiegene Aufsteiger die erste Chance des Spiels hatte – doch Geburtstagskind Courtois lenkte den Kopfball von Bruno Mendez über die Latte (20.).
Eine enttäuschende erste Real-Hälfte steuerte bereits auf ihr Ende zu, als die Blancos aus dem absoluten Nichts zuschlugen: Nach Flanke von Brahim Diaz schoss der aufgerückte Fran Garcia ein – sein allererstes Pflichtspieltor für die Real-Profis inklusive Kuss aufs Wappen (38.).
Granada war in der Folge gedanklich schon in der Pause, als Fran Garcia – von Brahim Diaz geschickt – mustergültig für Arda Güler vorbereitete. Das 2:0 war das dritte La-Liga-Tor des jungen Türken in seinem achten Auftritt (45.+2).
Wer nach dem Seitenwechsel ein Aufbäumen Granadas erwartet hatte, wurde eines Besseren belehrt. Speziell Brahim Diaz hatte richtig Bock auf dieses Spiel, einem letzten sowie einem vorletzten Pass ließ der feine Techniker nach der Pause einen Doppelpack folgen: Nach seinem 3:0 – ein Solo von der Mittellinie über den halben Platz – applaudierten sogar einige Granada-Fans (49.), das 4:0 bereitete Modric vor (58.).
Jener Modric wurde bei seiner Auswechslung – angesichts des wahrscheinlichen Abschieds aus Spanien – mit großen Applaus vom ganzen Stadion verabschiedet (70.). Kurz zuvor hatte Joselu das 5:0 auf dem Fuß, scheiterte aber kunstvoll per Hacke (66.). Es war nicht der Tag des Bayern-Schrecks, der einige Chancen liegen ließ.
In der Schlussviertelstunde – Kroos war nun auch dabei – schaltete Real mehrere Gänge zurück und verwaltete den Vorsprung souverän. Mit nun 90 Punkten geht es bereits am Dienstag (21.30 Uhr, LIVE! bei kicker) weiter, wenn Deportivo Alaves im Bernabeu gastiert.

Real Madrid enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 win away to Granada in their first La Liga game since being crowned champions after the hosts had been relegated to the second division earlier in the day.
Carlo Ancelotti was able to rest his star players with a UEFA Champions League final on the horizon as he made 10 changes from the team that started against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Brahim Diaz’s excellent second-half brace, with a moment of individual quality before rounding off an excellent team move earned him the Player of the Match award.
Francisco Garcia had opened the scoring for the visitors in the first half before turning provider as he set up Turkish youngster Arda Guler to double their lead on the stroke of half-time.
Myrto Uzuni had the best of the half-chances that fell for the hosts, who were perhaps somewhat deflated after seeing their fate to La Liga 2 sealed by Mallorca’s win in an earlier kick-off.
With Girona’s victory over Barcelona last weekend securing Los Blancos the title, there was little pressure on this fixture and that will be the case for their final three league games ahead of the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1.
Therefore, it was unsurprising to see Ancelotti resting his key players and giving others a chance to impress, a pattern that is likely to continue ahead of the showdown piece at Wembley.
Diaz was one of those to snatch the opportunity and his two excellent goals that topped off a superb performance will have done him no harm in his efforts to start the final as Madrid look for their 15th Champions League title.
Conversely, Joselu will be disappointed with this evening’s work after such a euphoric night on Wednesday as his two goals turned the tie with Bayern Munich on its head to send Madrid through.
The 34-year-old striker was wasteful when chances fell to him and looked more desperate as the game went on to find the back of the net. The Spaniard will hope he can find his tenth league goal over the coming weeks to get him back on track.
Despite assured and dominant performances from Eduardo Camavinga and Luka Modric in midfield, Diaz caused problems all afternoon for the hosts. His driving runs at the heart of the Granada defence saw him play a role in all four goals and brought two yellow cards for Granada.
A superb solo goal as he took the ball on the half turn before once again running at the Granada back line and firing home before he finished off an excellent passing move from the visitors exemplified his high-quality performance.

45+2′ – GOAL! Granada 0-2 Real Madrid (Guler): Garcia turns provider as he pulls it back and sets up Guler to take a touch and stroke home with his left foot into the bottom right corner for Madrid’s second.
49′ – GOAL! Granada 0-3 Real Madrid (Diaz): Diaz takes the ball beautifully on the half-turn before running at the Granada defence. He then fakes a shot to cut back on his right foot and sell the defence before striking past the keeper’s right into the near post.
58′ – GOAL! Granada 0-4 Real Madrid (Diaz): A delightful move from Madrid with each player taking one or touches results in Modric being slipped through in the right of the Granada box. The Croatian generously cuts it back to Diaz who takes a touch before converting for his second goal of the game.
