Bellingham strikes in added-time as England draw with Belgium

Jude Bellingham spared England’s blushes and denied Belgium their first win over England on British soil with a last-minute equaliser to draw 2-2 on Tuesday.

Gareth Southgate’s side were heading for back-to-back losses after defeat to Brazil on Saturday, but goals from Ivan Toney and Bellingham were enough to salvage a draw.

The Three Lions suffered a double blow at the beginning of the first half of their match with Belgium when John Stones was forced off with injury after nine minutes, before Youri Tielemans quickly gave the visitors the lead following an error from Jordan Pickford.

England were only behind for a matter of minutes, as Toney drew a foul in the box out of Jan Vertonghen before he coolly dispatched the spot kick himself for his first England goal.

Belgium restored their lead when Tielemans headed in at the back post for his second following another England error, this time from Lewis Dunk, who lost possession in a battle with Romelu Lukaku before the latter’s sweet cross was met by the Aston Villa midfielder.

England threatened Belgium several times in the second half and finally found the target when Bellingham’s cool effort rippled the net in the final minute of added time to salvage a well-earned draw.
