Chelsea sign Leicester midfielder Dewsbury-Hall as boss Maresca raids former club

Chelsea have completed their fourth signing of the summer transfer window with the arrival of midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.

The reported £30 million fee sees the Blues beat off interest from elsewhere to lure the 25-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

Former Leicester and new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is reunited with one of the midfield stars of his Championship-winning Foxes side, with Dewsbury-Hall agreeing a six-year deal through the 2030 season.

Dewsbury-Hall, 25, was named in the Championship team of the season after registering 12 goals and 14 assists and joins a somewhat congested Chelsea midfield alongside fellow big-money signings from previous windows, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia.

“It is amazing to be sitting here as a Chelsea player,” said Dewsbury-Hall on the Chelsea website. “This is a club people grow up watching and hoping to one day play for, so it is a privilege to be here.

“I’m really excited to get going and can’t wait to show everybody what I can do.”

An initial bid by the Blues had been rejected after falling short of Leicester’s valuation, as per the BBC, but a deal was ultimately reached.

Chelsea youngster Michael Golding may move in the opposite direction in a separate deal, according to multiple sources.

Dewsbury-Hall joins Omari Kellyman, Tosin Adarabioyo and Marc Guiu as new recruits at Stamford Bridge.
