World Championship LIVE – Trump on cusp of last eight, Murphy v Maguire

World Championship LIVE – Trump on cusp of last eight, Murphy v Maguire

Baize time

Our MC Rob Walker gets it popping, and introduces the players. Let’s do this!

Fordy

He’s a late bloomer is Tom. Now 40, his four Crucible visits prior to this one ended with defeat in the first round. Now ranked 14 in the world, Tom has been a finalist at the German Masters and International Championship in the last two seasons and turned over Ricky Walden in round one. It’s all uphill today though, and if he doesn’t win the opening mini-session here his tournament is done.

The Juddernaut

It’s 11-5 to Judd so far, and given the way this match has gone so far the contest might not reach the interval. If Judd can progress here he’ll be in to the quarters at the Crucible for the tenth time, for a square go with either Jak Jones or Si Jiahui.

GOOD MORNING!

Feeling daisy fresh? Good, good. It’s day eight of the 2024 World Snooker Championship, and with a bunch of seeds already eliminated this thing is really getting tasty. This morning we’ll have the conclusion of Judd Trump and Tom Ford, while keeping a keen eye on the other table where Shaun Murphy and Stephen Maguire are in action. We’ll be about the baize shortly.

Schedule for Saturday, April 27

Second round matches

  • Judd Trump 11-5 Tom Ford
  • Stephen Maguire 5-3 Shaun Murphy
  • Jak Jones 9-7 Si Jiahui
  • John Higgins v Mark Allen
  • Joe O’Connor v Kyren Wilson
  • Jack Lisowski v Stuart Bingham
