‘Now it’s time to fully recover’ – Vingegaard released from hospital after crash

Jonas Vingegaard said it is now “time to fully recover again” after he was released from hospital.

He was hospitalised after the incident but has now left to continue his recovery.

His team, Visma-Lease a Bike, released photos of Vingegaard outside the hospital with his right arm in a sling and two fingers still bandaged. With his left hand he is giving a ‘thumbs-up’ sign.

“Hello everyone, it’s time for me to leave the hospital,” said Vingegaard in the social media post.

“I want to thank all the medical staff for taking so good care of me. And I want to thank everyone for their moral support. I have received lot of messages, presents and drawings. Heartwarming!

“Now it’s time to fully recover again. Thumbs up!”

Vingegaard will be hoping he can recover in time for the Tour de France, which starts on June 29.

He has won the last two editions of the race and is set to lead the Visma team if healthy.

Vingegaard is not the only high-profile rider recovering from injury.

Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) also crashed at the Itzulia Basque Country.

He suffered a broken collarbone and shoulder blade, but is hopeful the injury will not keep him out for too long.

“Obviously my plans for the short future will change,” he said on social media.

”But I hope and think my long term goals will not change. Everything should be ok with that.”

The Giro d’Italia starts on May 4.
