Kevin Durant might win you over with his explanation as to why he argues with Twitter eggs

Maybe Durant gets social media more than the rest of us do because he’s absolutely correct, there is no escaping it. If you are one of the few people who don’t have any social media accounts, your job, your friends, and your family do. Being engaged with your employer’s social media will help at the job, and you will likely appear on the social media accounts of people you know. If you don’t want to be put on there, you can’t make sure of it without having social media accounts.

As toxic of a place as social media can be, it offers many benefits. For someone like Durant, who has many interests outside of basketball, it’s the perfect place for free promotion. However, if his account was nothing but self-promotion, his tweets might as well all be marked sponsored. Instead, because he engages with others on social media he’s built not only a reputation for clapping back at people, but also a more genuine connection with his followers and other users. That makes it much more likely that they’ll look at something he’s promoting instead of scrolling past it.

Even for those without television shows promote, it can be used to raise your profile in your profession, build interest around a small business, or simply a way to keep up with the news of the day — provided you know how to distinguish news from a recommendation to use horse dewormer to “immunize” yourself from COVID-19.

Social media is no longer a brave new world; it’s the world. Like Durant said in the clip it has been an intrical part of many companies for more than a decade. There’s literally no way to run from it, so just embrace it. You don’t have to respond to negative users. That’s fun for some people. By actively trying to avoid social media you’re cheating yourself.

So while we teased Durant for engaging with @Thunder4ever69 it turns out he understands exactly what he’s doing and doesn’t care if it turns us into real live SMH emojis.

‘It’s time for him to go’ – Haibeh calls for Solskjaer sacking after Manchester City defeat

Somalia national team manager Said Abdi Haibeh has called for the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Manchester City – which added more pressure on the already troubled club.

Eric Bailly’s own goal and Bernardo Silva’s effort on the stroke of half-time propelled the Citizens to a convincing away win at Old Trafford.

That setback saw them drop to sixth in the English top-flight having garnered 17 points from 11 matches.

Irked by the Red Devils’ collapse against Pep Guardiola’s side, the Ocean Stars’ handler claims the 20-time English kings will continue their southward move if the Norwegian tactician is not kicked out instantly.

“Ole has been in the club for three years, during his time he hasn’t won any trophy,” Haibeh told Goal in a no holds barred chat.

“Manchester United are the biggest club in the United Kingdom and one of the biggest globally. Therefore, fans will not accept a defeat against one of their bitter rivals.

“Although a few of Ole’s former teammates have been defending him for some time, I think it’s time for him to go.

“If United don’t sack him now, the club will only be heading down.”

Asked about what has led Manchester United to their slow and steady decline, Haibeh said: “He [Solskjaer] doesn’t seem to know his best 11.

“Also, he has refused to give [Jadon] Sancho a chance – a player that shined for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

“There are few super stars at the club, players who have big characters and egos, and Ole who hasn’t managed a big club before joining United, was always going to struggle to manage big players and meet the fan expectations.

“I think United need a manager who has good credentials, one who has a proven record in winning titles and managing big players, and the only name that one can think of now is Zinedine Zidane.”

Said Abdi Haibeh PS

Prior to this game, Guardiola’s men had suffered a shock home defeat to Crystal Palace. Nonetheless, victory against their rivals has seen them move to second spot.

“Manchester City started the match well and controlled the game in the first half. United gave them too much respect and City’s confidence grew as the game progressed,” the Somali boss added.

“With the introduction of Sancho, United had a bit of flair but the damage had already been done.

“Manchester United could have been four goals down in the first half but they were rescued by David De Gea’s string of brilliant saves.

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s half volley was the only shot on target that the Red Devils could produce. And of course, the absence of Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba were noticeable.”

Solskjaer’s team square up against Watford on November 21, while the reigning English kings welcome Everton to the Etihad Stadium on the same day.

Vydra ends Mendy’s clean sheet run as Burnley hold Chelsea

Edouard Mendy’s inspiring Premier League clean sheet run came to an end on Saturday as Chelsea settled for a 1-1 draw against Burnley.

The Senegal international had not conceded a goal in his last three league matches – a feat that saw him garner six clean sheets in the 2021-22 campaign after nine top-flight matches.

That impressive course came to an end against the Clarets as Thomas Tuchel’s men paid heavily for their lethargic display at Stamford Bridge.

Lifted by Reece James’ assist, Kai Havertz put the hosts ahead in the 33rd minute. James’ contribution means he has now been involved in seven Premier League goals this season (4 goals, 3 assists) – only Mohamed Salah (16), Michail Antonio (9) and Jamie Vardy (8) have been involved in more so far this term.

With the reigning European kings looking destined for all points, Sean Dyche’s men levelled matters in the 79th minute thanks to an assist from Jay Rodriguez.

Notwithstanding a late attacking surge by Chelsea, they were unable to get the winner as the Clarets put up a superb defensive showing.

Although Mendy was rarely threatened, he contributed 32 touches, 83 passes, and a passing accuracy of 90.4 percent.

Buoyed by the African star’s commanding display for the English team following his move from Rennes, former England international Peter Crouch claimed the 29-year-old could be the missing piece that will help Chelsea win titles this season.

“It is Mendy’s overall contribution that has given them an added calmness since he arrived from Rennes last year. His touch is spot on when dealing with horrendous back passes, he comes and takes crosses with authority,” Crouch wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“Look at all the teams to have lifted the league title and one common theme is trust in an exceptional goalkeeper. The signings of Alisson and Ederson altered the outlook for Liverpool and Manchester City, with both going on to finish top.

“Mendy is a major influence in Chelsea now finding themselves in the mix. There are other factors, of course. You have to be strong everywhere but the margins are so fine that the goalkeeper is often a deciding factor.

“Mendy has slotted in seamlessly — signed at 28, with experience and mistakes behind him, he is one of those goalkeepers who goes largely unnoticed most of the time.

“That is exactly the sort of steadiness you want. And when his moment in the spotlight came this weekend, he turned dropped points into three points.”

Unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions, Tuchel’s men are guests of Leicester City on November 20.

Former Aston Villa defender Ahmed Elmohamady has singled out Pep Guardiola for the transformation of Manchester City star Joao Cancelo into a world-class player.

Elmohamady made the declaration after Cancelo inspired City to a 2-0 triumph over Manchester United in a Premier League fixture on Saturday.

The 27-year-old was involved in the two first-half goals at Old Trafford as the visitors claimed the derby bragging rights in style.

He made the cross that Eric Bailly turned into his own net in the seventh minute before assisting Bernardo Silva to double their lead on the stroke of half-time.

On Wednesday, Cancelo made a hat-trick of assists as Manchester City hammered Club Brugge 4-1 in a Champions League game.

After seeing another masterclass performance from the Portugal international who played the entire duration of Saturday’s game, Elmohamady praised Guardiola for his impact on the player he bought from Juventus in August 2019.

“Pep has improved so many players over the years but Cancelo became a world-class player,” the former Egypt captain tweeted.

Elmohamady has been without a club since he left Premier League club Aston Villa at the expiry of his contract in May 2021.

He followed Saturday’s encounter and he singled out two other players for praise including goalkeeper David De Gea for his first-half heroics that saved Manchester United from conceding more goals.

“Bernado Silva, what a player. De Gea saving Manchester United from another five. Wow,” he tweeted.

The result was Manchester United’s second straight loss at Old Trafford after they suffered a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool in a Premier League match on October 24.

It also extended the Red Devils’ disappointing home run in 2021 having lost eight home matches in all competitions so far, their most in a calendar year since losing eight in 1989.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are fifth on the league table with 17 points after 11 games while Man City are in the second spot with 23 points after the same number of games, two points behind leaders Chelsea.

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has wished departing Al Sadd manager Xavi well as he closes in on taking Barcelona managerial job.

Ayew left Swansea City in July to continue his career in the Middle East and he has spent the last three months working with the 41-year-old at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

During the brief time spent together, Xavi and Ayew won the Emir Cup after Al Sadd defeated Al Rayyan on penalties after a 1-1 draw, a fortnight ago.

After Al Sadd announced Xavi’s departure on Friday, the 31-year-old did not hide the fact that he has learnt some lessons from the retired midfield maestro.

“Mister thank you for everything. Your humbleness is unique, learned so much in this few months. Proud to have worked with such a legend, Xavi. May Allah bless your new chapter. Good luck Mister,” Ayew wrote on Instagram.

So far this season, the Black Stars forward has scored seven goals in nine appearances for Al Sadd who sit atop of the Qatar Stars League with an unbeaten record of 25 points from nine matches.

Xavi is expected to succeed Ronald Koeman as the new Barca boss after the Dutch coach was shown the exit door on October 27, following a 1-0 La Liga loss to Rayo Vallecano.

The Spain legend started his managerial career in 2019 at Al Sadd after ending his playing career at the same club.

He has made a promising start to life in the dug-out with five trophies won so far with the Wolf.

Last season, Xavi guided the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium outfit to a domestic double of the Qatar Stars League title and the Qatar Cup.

During his playing stint at Barcelona, the 41-year-old made a contribution of 85 goals and 185 assists in 767 games across all competitions between 1997 and 2015.

He also won 25 trophies that include eight La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies with the Blaugrana.

Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o has welcomed his former teammate Xavi back to Barcelona as the new club manager.

The Spanish giants are working to confirm the signing of the 41-year-old after Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd confirmed his departure on Friday.

Barcelona executives jetted out to the Middle East earlier this week to hold negotiations with Al Sadd and the Qatari club have confirmed that they have found an agreement after the payment of his contract termination clause.

“Club administration have approved the transfer of Xavi to Barcelona after the payment of the clause stipulated in his contract. Xavi is considered an important part of our history and we wish him every success in the future,” the Qatari club announced on Twitter.

Eto’o has swiftly taken a step to welcome Xavi to Camp Nou with a picture of their celebration after they won the 2008-09 Champions League title in Rome.

Ronald Koeman was sacked as Barcelona coach on October 27 after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano – which was their fifth loss of the season.

Sergi Barjuan has been acting in an interim role, overseeing the Blaugrana’s last two matches which ended in a 1-1 draw against Alaves in La Liga and a 1-0 win over Dinamo Kiev in the Uefa Champions League.

After developing through Barcelona’s academy in the 90s, Xavi spent the majority of his professional career at Camp Nou.

He played 767 matches for the club with a contribution of 85 goals and 185 assists in all competitions between 1997 and 2015.

The former Spain midfielder is also considered as one of the most decorated players in Barcelona’s history, with a record of 25 trophies that includes eight La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.

His managerial career has got off to a flying start at Al Sadd where he clinched five trophies since his appointment in 2019.

Last season, he helped the Wolf lift the domestic double of the Qatar Stars League title and the Qatar Cup.

Lukas Nmecha’s wonder strike for Wolfsburg in the 2-1 triumph over Red Bull Salzburg in Tuesday’s Champions League showdown has been nominated for the Goal of the Week award.

Challenging him for this individual accolade are Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich.

Winless in their first three matches, the Bundesliga side welcomed the Austrians to the Volkswagen Arena.

With just three minutes into the game, the hosts took the lead through Ridle Baku after he was teed up by Yannick Gerhardt. However, the visitors restored parity through Maximilian Woeber at the half-hour mark.

The Germany youth international of Nigerian background sealed victory for Florian Kohfeldt’s men in the 60th minute.

Maximilian Arnold sent a lofted ball over to Nmecha, and the striker brought it down on his chest before smashing a brilliant finish past the diving goalkeeper Philipp Kohn.

The former Manchester City teenage sensation now scored two goals in his last four games in the tournament.

Against RB Salzburg, he was in action from start to finish. Switzerland international of Congolese descent Kevin Mbabu was introduced in the 74th minute for Aster Vranckx.

The player with the highest number of votes will walk home with the individual honour.

As a result of the victory, Wolfsburg climbed to third in Group G with five points from four matches.

They travel to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Seville for their penultimate match against La Liga side Sevilla.

Prior to that make-or-break encounter, they will square up against Augsburg and Arminia Bielefeld in the German top-flight.

Nmecha scored 21 goals during a productive spell at Belgian side Anderlecht last season.

On the international scene, he has represented England at every youth level between the Under-16 and Under-21 groups, but he made his debut for the Germany Under-21 side in May 2019.

He came on as a second-half substitute as Germany secured a 2-1 win over the Three Lions at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium on Tuesday.

Speaking after the match, he told the media that he is switching allegiances permanently, after giving the issue a great deal of thought.

Regardless, he remains eligible to represent the Super Eagles at senior level.
