Fans go crazy as Jimmy Butler, Heat prevent historic collapse with Game 7 trashing of Celtics

Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat have done it. They are now headed to the 2023 NBA Finals after taking down the Boston Celtics in seven games in the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The road the Heat have taken to make it to the grandest stage of the NBA can sound like a dream, but they are truly an all-time underdog that’s overperforming way beyond what they should be on paper.

The Heat were on the verge of becoming the first team to lose an NBA Playoffs series after winning Games 1 to 3, as they failed to close out the deal in Games 4,5, and 6 against the Celtics. But Jimmy Butler was not going to allow the Heat to be on the wrong end of history. In Game 7, Butler scored 28 points on 12-for-28 shooting from the field to lead all Miami scorers. He also added seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in 43 minutes of work on the court. It was not just all Butler, though, for the Heat, with Caleb Martin torching the Celtics for 26 points on 11-for-16 shooting.

Heat and NBA fans are all over Twitter at the moment following the success of Butler and the Heat against Boston at TD Garden.

“Jimmy Butler in eight seasons with Chicago, Minnesota & Philadelphia: zero NBA Finals appearances. Jimmy Butler in four seasons with Miami: two NBA Finals appearances. Find your tribe,” tweeted Michael Lee of the Washington Post.

“Jimmy Butler really about to have a second finals appearance. I feel like we just drafted him. Im so happy for him man,” said @KOT4Q.

Celtics’ Jaylen Brown clowned by Shannon Sharpe, NBA Twitter over Game 7 struggles

Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics outscored the Miami Heat by one point in the third quarter of Game 7 as they battled back from an early game deficit. Unfortunately for Celtics fans, the team’s comeback fell flat as the fourth quarter wound down in Boston.

As fellow All-Star Jayson Tatum struggled to adjust due to an ankle injury suffered early, Jaylen Brown struggled with turnovers.

NFL Hall-of-Famer Shannon Sharpe trolled Brown on Twitter during the mistakes.

Other readers began to pile on after Sharpe’s initial blast as the game entered its bitter final stages for Boston.

The Celtics finished with 15 total turnovers on the night compared to the Heat’s 12. It was the timing of costly mistakes that did them in as the Heat took a commanding lead.

Tatum was held to 14 points, wincing as he ran down the court from injury in the game’s final moments. Brown finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

A third quarter flurry from guard Derrick White staked him to 18 points total for the game.

When the dust settled, the Celtics battled back from a 3-0 series deficit only to fail on the big stage yet again.

On the plus side, Tatum smashed a Larry Bird playoff record that stood for nearly four decades.

Poor shooting proved to be the Celtics’ undoing. The team shot just 9-for-42 from three-point range, compared to the Heat’s 14-for-28.

In the end, they met a fate similar to the Boston Bruins, who lost a Game 7 of their own last month to the Florida Panthers.

White führt Celtics-Comeback an – Martin kontert

NBA Twitter reacts to Heat stud Duncan Robinson savagely taunting Celtics fans in Game 7

The Boston Celtics came so close to making history as the first team to come back from being down 0-3 in a best-of-7 series. The Miami Heat, however, had other plans. Billed as the underdogs throughout their entire NBA Playoffs run, Jimmy Butler and Co. came into Game 7 at the TD Garden with most fans believing that this was Boston’s game to lose. True enough, the Heat made sure that this was going to be the case on Monday night.

After holding a relatively precarious lead for the most part of the game, the Heat ended up blowing this game wide open in the fourth and final quarter. At one point, they went up by 21 points courtesy of a Duncan Robinson deuce. After scoring on a well-contested lay-up, the Heat sharpshooter just had to go full savage on the Celtics home crowd:

Yup, he really did that. Duncan Robinson really motioned to his ear to indicate that he could no longer hear the Celtics crowd in attendance. The Heat did an exceptional job in not letting the fans get involved in this one, and Robinson just delivered the final nail in the coffin with his deuce here. His celebration was pure savagery at its finest, and NBA Twitter completely agrees:

Celtics fans have to be hating hard on Duncan Robinson right now. After all, that’s a pretty disrespectful move. To be fair, though, Robinson was right in that Heat completely silenced the Boston home crowd at that point in the game. This fact doesn’t make it less painful for the Celtics faithful, though.

Jayson Tatum smashes Larry Bird NBA Playoffs record that stood for nearly four decades

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics are on the cusp of making NBA history with a win in Game 7 against the Miami Heat Monday night. From an individual perspective, Tatum has already entered his name into the record books before the final buzzer of the game, as he has just surpassed Larry Bird for the most points by a Celtics player over the course of two consecutive playoffs, per ESPN Stats & Info.

With 10 points tonight, Jayson Tatum has passed Larry Bird in 1984-85 for the most points over a 2-postseason span in Celtics history.

In the 1984 and 1985 NBA Playoffs, Bird mustered a total of 1,152 points on 49.3 percent shooting from the field across 43 total games. Jayson Tatum, on the other hand, entered Game 7 of the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Finals with 1,144 points on 44.1 field goal percentage over 43 games as well. Tatum scored just seven points in the first half and eventually moved past Larry Legend with his first bucket in the second half.

Bird and the Celtics reached the NBA Finals in 1984 and defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. They returned to the NBA Finals the following year but the Lakers got their revenge, winning the title after beating Boston in six games.

Jayson Tatum will gladly exchange his new franchise record for an NBA title, which remains to be a missing item on his resume. At the time of this writing, though, the Celtics are down big against Jimmy Butler and the Heat, who have established a double-digit lead at halftime and remain in full control in the second half.

Mavs owner Mark Cuban tries to expose Celtics-Heat free streams, gets ‘Narc Cuban’ treatment on Twitter

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is trending on Twitter as “Narc Cuban” after he asked who’s watching the Miami Heat-Boston Celtics game on an illegal stream.

The Celtics and the Heat met in the TD Garden on Monday night as the C’s stormed from a 3-0 deficit, now having the chance to make the first ever reverse sweep in NBA history.

The game, broadcasted on TNT, was figured to bring in a lot of ratings because of the stakes at hand and the teams involved, mainly the Celtics. For the most part, TV ratings shouldn’t really matter to those who doesn’t work for the league or the TV networks. But for the Mavs owner, it matters because he profits directly from those broadcast deals and with a new one coming up, he probably keeps an eye for how these playoffs are doing.

That’s why when he asked who was watching the game on an illegal, pirated stream, it drew a lot of attention on Twitter:

As of writing, that tweet has 5.7 million views, over 6,800 replies, and almost 4,700 quote tweets roasting Cuban for trying to get people to snitch on themselves to someone who makes money off of people watching games through traditional broadcasts — with “Narc Cuban” trending on Twitter.

Even if Mark Cuban is just honestly trying to figure out how prevalent it is for people to watch illegal streams, he’s one of the people who no one would actually tell that to because he’s one of the few who has reason to seek legal action against those streams.

WATCH: Heat star Jimmy Butler in pain amid concerning injury scare in game 7 vs Celtics

First it was Jayson Tatum. Now it’s Jimmy Butler who suffered a concerning injury scare in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. Butler looked like he was in considerable pain after stepping on the foot of Celtics guard Derrick White.

Butler was able to stay in the game, but it didn’t look good for the Heat star:

This is a developing story and will be updated shortly.

Charles Barkley annihilates ‘dumba**’ Celtics’ performance vs. Heat

The Boston Celtics came into Game 7 as the heavy favorites to defeat the Miami Heat on Boston’s own home floor. They are on the brink of making history by being the first team to ever come back from being down 0-3 in a best-of-7 series. However, based on their forgettable first-half performance, it did not look like the Celtics were in desperation mode.

Charles Barkley was having none of it. The Hall of Famer turned NBA on TNT analyst could not help but air out his frustrations on Boston after what he deemed as a “stupid” first-half performance. Chuck did not hold back:

“Watching these dumba** Celtics is making my head hurt,” Barkley said. “… It’s so bad to watch them play. There’s no ball movement, there’s no body movement. It’s just frustrating watching a team with this much talent play stupid.”

Barkley took exception to how the Celtics kept chucking up shots from distance in spite of their inability to make their treys. Sir Charles called out Boston for their lack of ball movement — something that Barkley seems to believe could doom the Celtics in this one.

To be fair to the Celtics, they were down by just 14 points at the half in spite of their poor showing. It goes without saying, however, Jayson Tatum and Co. will need to play much better in the second half if they want to keep their season alive. The brutal reality is that all their hard work will amount to nothing if they allow the Heat to steal away Game 7 at the TD Garden.

Jayson Tatum, Celtics can join extremely exlusive Game 7 club amid 11-point halftime deficit vs Heat

The Boston Celtics have their backs against the wall in Game 7 of their 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Finals series against Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat, who have established an 11-point lead after the first two quarters of the contest at TD Garden. The Celtics did not battle back from 0-3 down only to put up a lackluster effort in front of their home crowd in a Game 7, so a big fightback from Jayson Tatum and company is to be expected to happen in the second half.

If the Celtics somehow managed to turn things around and end up with the last laugh in Game 7, they will just be the fourth team in the history of the NBA to overcome a halftime deficit of at least 11 points in a Game 7, via Sportsnet Stats.

“Heat lead Celtics by 11 at Halftime. The largest Game 7 halftime comeback in NBA history is 11 points, done twice by the Warriors in 1975 (vs Bulls) & 2018 (vs Rockets) respectively.”

If the Celtics are to right the ship and complete the comeback, they are going to need their biggest stars to play like, well, stars. Tatum finished the first half of Game 7 with just seven points on 3-for-7 shooting from the field. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics in the first half with 15 points, albeit on an inefficient 6-for-15 shooting from the floor.

Of course, the history everyone’s been looking out for in this game is that of Boston’s chances to successfully become just the first team in league history to win a series after losing Games 1 to 3.

Celtics legends Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo show ultimate support for Boston in Game 7 vs. Heat

Boston Celtics legends Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo arrive in TD Garden as the Celtics face the Miami Heat in a pivotal Game 7.

The two were spotted by Jeff Goodman a couple moments before tip-off wearing casual attire and were immediately called up by NBC Sports Boston to give a few words as Beantown looks to complete the 3-0 comeback and make their 21st NBA Finals appearance.

Joined by former teammate Eddie House, they gave their predictions: Pierce says the Celtics will win by 20, while Rondo says Celtics will win by 9, and Eddie doesn’t want to give specific numbers, but he simply expects an “a**-kicking.”

Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and Eddie House, along with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rasheed Wallace were all best known for their iteration of the Boston Celtics that won the NBA Championship in 2008.

They were coached by Doc Rivers and stormed through the regular season with a 66-16 record.

They then defeated the Atlanta Hawks in six games, eliminated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games, and then the former NBA Champion Detroit Pistons in six before defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals, which included a 39-point beat down in Game 6.

They would go on to make their presence felt in the playoffs all the way until 2013, the year where Pierce and Garnett were traded to the Brooklyn Nets, starting a rebuild that would not see its fruits until 2017.

Times have changed, but it’s great to see the veterans be in all-out support for the next-generation Celtics, as they look to carve a dynasty of their own.
