Roger Federer has done countless interviews over the years, but this week at the Miami Open presented by Itau, he faced a new question from #NextGenATP reporter Miomir Kecmanovic.
“We all know you have four kids. We want to know which one is your favourite,” asked the 19-year-old Kecmanovic.
Federer, father to 9-year-olds Charlene and Myla and 4-year-olds Leo and Lenny, gasped and laughed as he replied, “This is not the question you ask! I love them all equally. They’re just cute and silly and cheeky and cuddly and the best.
“Cheeky question, huh? Good one!” said the 100-time ATP titlist, continuing to laugh. “I’ve actually never been asked!”
Watch the full feature above, as Kecmanovic also talks to countryman Novak Djokovic about “the rock-and-roll stage for tennis” at Hard Rock Stadium, discovers his shared anime taste with Kei Nishikori, and asks BNP Paribas Open champion Dominic Thiem whether his girlfriend Kristina Mladenovic has contributed to his recent success.
Last week as a lucky loser in Indian Wells, Kecmanovic reached his first ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final before falling to Milos Raonic. He broke into the Top 100 of the ATP Rankings on Monday, climbing 35 spots to No. 95, and also rose to No. 5 in the ATP Race to Milan, which determines which 21-and-under players will qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals.
