Disney Speedstorm Release Date: September 28, 2023

Disney Speedstorm was first released as a paid Early Access title on April 18, 2023, for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch; and August 1, 2023, for Android and iOS. The game will launch, leaving early access as a free-to-play title, on September 28, 2023, for all platforms. The game was developed and published by Gameloft.

These are played in different race types: Classic, Single skill, Floating Objects, Fog Challenge, Last One Standing, Color Match, and Follow the Leader, each one having its own rules and gimmicks. More game modes, vehicles, characters, and race tracks are expected to come out in the future as more season are added to the game.

Ahsoka has second-highest debut behind another Disney+ Star Wars series

The debut of Ahsoka has been huge for Disney+. It was so successful that it only trails one other Star Wars series, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Ahsoka logged 829 minutes viewed during its first week from August 21-27. The first two episodes ran for 100 minutes, which means about 8.29 million complete viewings of the episodes.

Back in May 2022, Obi-Wan Kenobi debut with 1.03 million minutes viewed. That stands as the highest-viewed Star Wars Disney+ series in this metric.

Given Star Wars’ name recognition, it’s not surprising to see their Disney+ series become hits. Obi-Wan Kenobi was based on one of the franchise’s most popular character. It also brought back Ewan McGregor into the fold after he played the role in the prequels.

Ahsoka was the spin-off series for the popular titular Star Wars character. Dave Filoni, who wrote the entire Disney+ series, wrote all of the episodes of the show. Ashley Eckstein originally voiced the character in her animated appearances including The Clone Wars. Beginning in the second season of The Mandalorian, Rosario Dawson took over the role in live-action form.

The series follows Ahsoka (Dawson) as she investigates a new threat after the fall of the Empire. Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, Ivanna Sakhno, Diana Lee Inosanto, David Tennant, and Lars Mikkelsen also star in the series.

Additionally, Ahsoka brought back another prequel character, Anakin Skywalker. Hayden Christensen reprised the role after years away from the franchise in a couple of episodes.

The next episode of Ahsoka premieres on September 26.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier VFX worker reveals horrible working conditions of MCU show

VFX workers recently voted to unionize. However, a VFX coordinator for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier spilled on the horrible working conditions on the MCU show.

Alexandra Rebeck has worked with the MCU for years. Her first project was The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and she now will work on Loki Season 2.

She recently spoke to IndieWire about her experience on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and revealed that people worked 75 days in a row on the MCU show. In fact, they only got time off when they “had a mental breakdown.”

“I don’t know how this acceptable,” Rebeck continued. “I don’t know how you can work people like this. It was the first-ever Marvel TV show, it was during COVID, there was a lot of things that didn’t work in our favor. … It didn’t stop me from coming back to other Marvel shows, and those were way better.”

The MCU isn’t fully to blame, though. Rebeck elaborated, “So I don’t think it’s a Marvel thing, but on a show-to-show basis, things can really go horribly wrong. I don’t want anyone who comes into VFX to end up doing what I had to do on that show, because that is not humane. That is not normal.”

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was an MCU miniseries for Disney+. It follows Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and his team-up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) as they attempt to stop anti-patriots. The six-episode series also starred Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Danny Ramirez, and Don Cheadle.

Ahsoka: Hayden Christensen drops truth bomb on Anakin Skywalker return

Hayden Christensen made his Star Wars return as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka. The actor recently opened up further about what the return means to him.

He first made his return to the Anakin Skywalker role in another Star Wars series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Christensen played the role in the prequel Star Wars trilogy, but stepped away from the role for years.

Turns out, he was thrilled to return to Star Wars. “When I got the phone call to talk about being part of the Ahsoka project, I was thrilled,” Christensen told Entertainment Tonight prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

“It kind of blows your mind every time. I just feel very grateful,” Christensen said of his Ahsoka return.

Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson and Christensen actually knew each other years ago. The Star Wars series served as a two-way reunion, both on and off-screen. They revealed in the Entertainment Tonight interview that they knew each other as teenagers in an acting class.

Hayden Christensen is most known for his Anakin Skywalker role. Outside of Star Wars, he has also starred in The Virgin Suicides, Shattered Glass, Jumper, and Little Italy.

Ahsoka follows the titular hero, played by Rosario Dawson, as she investigates a new threat after the fall of the Empire. The character was initially created by Dave Filoni (who wrote the Disney+ series) for The Clone Wars. Ashley Eckstein voiced the role, but Dawson took on the role in live-action form dating back to The Mandalorian.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, jIvanna Sakhno, David Tennant, Lars Mikkelsen, and the late Ray Stevenson star in the series.

Percy Jackson creator makes bold claim for Disney+ series fans will love

Rick Riordan, the creator and author of the Percy Jackson book series, has a bold claim for the forthcoming Disney+ adaptation.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Riordan talked about his involvement in the Percy Jackson series with his wife, Becky, and made a promise for fans.

“We have been involved in the series since its inception, since the very, very earliest conversations about what a new Percy adaptation might look like, how it would be sketched out, whether it would be episodic,” Riordan said in a pre-WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike interview. “So, I feel comfortable telling fans of the books who have been waiting — in some cases, decades — for this kind of faithful adaptation, that this is the one you’ve been waiting for. We are involved and I think you’re gonna love it.”

While this isn’t the first time that the Percy Jackson series has been adapted, it does sound like Riordan will be more involved this time around. He will co-write at least the first two episodes. In 2010, 20th Century Fox made a film adaptation of the first book, The Lightning Thief, starring Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, and Alexandria Daddario. A sequel, adapting Sea of Monsters, was also made with the main trio returning.

Now, Disney+ will make a TV series titled Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Each season will adapt a different book in Rick Riordan’s series. Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri will star as Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, respectively.

Percy Jackson and the Olypians Season 1 will premiere on December 20 on Disney+.

Disney+ makes puzzling change to MCU spin-off film

One year after Disney+ released the MCU spin-off special Werewolf by Night, they have decided to reissue it. However, the re-release makes a huge change to the film’s most distinguishing feature.

That’s right, the originally black-and-white Werewolf by Night will now be released in color.

It’s a bit of a puzzling move by Disney+. After all, MCU projects rarely have defining traits. Werewolf by Night’s color palate harkened back to the Universal Classic Monsters era and was unique.

The Disney+ special was the first MCU television special. Michael Giacchino, who has composed the score for countless MCU projects, made his directorial debut with the project. It followed a group of monster hunters that all compete to retrieve an old relic. Gael Garcia Bernal, Laura Donnelly, and Harriet Samson Harris starred in the special.

Since Werewolf by Night, the MCU and Disney+ released one other special, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. It’s unknown if they will make any more entries in the Werewolf by Night series, but even as a one-off, it was a special project (something becoming increasingly rare these days).

The MCU is coming off of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on the film side. The Marvels is the lone remaining MCU film to be released this year. It’s scheduled for a November 10 release.

On the Disney+ TV side, Secret Invasion recently wrapped up and received mixed reactions. Coming up, the second season of Loki will premiere with a second season of What If? also coming soon.

Werewolf by Night’s in-color re-release will be released on October 20 on Disney+.

The fate of Ms. Marvel Season 2 rests on another MCU film’s shoulders

Whether or not we get a Ms. Marvel Season 2 depends on the success of another MCU film.

Speaking to The Playlist, Ms. Marvel director Adil El Arbi revealed that a second season depends on The Marvels.

“No, we’re waiting for ‘The Marvels,’ so that will decide what the next step will be,” said El Arbi of a second season of Ms. Marvel. “So we’re very much looking forward to that. I can’t wait to see it, man. It’s great to see the trailers and to see the whole family back there and Iman Vellani doing great work, so looking forward to that.”

Even if El Arbi and Co. don’t return for a second season of their series, they’d like to be involved in the MCU. “Well, you know, if they ask us to come back to Ms. Marvel, we love the universe, we love those characters, and Iman, and all of the other supporting actors there, so it would be an honor to come back and explore some more,” he said. “There is a Moroccan superhero we forgot to name that exists, so we can go there. And, you know, we love Blade. Our buddy Yann Demange is now doing Blade. If Yann doesn’t want to do the second movie, we’re still there. And Deadpool – we’re always there for Deadpool. If there’s a fourth one, we’re also game, so if they call us, we’re good.”

Ms. Marvel premiered on Disney+ last summer. The MCU series introduced Kamala Kahn (Iman Vellani). She will return in The Marvels alongside Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau. The three must team up after discovering their powers are entangled.

The Marvels will be released on November 10.

Ahsoka Episode 5 features Anakin Skywalker lightsaber fight

The latest episode of Ahsoka featured a lightsaber fight featuring Anakin Skywalker — fully welcoming the character back to the Star Wars series.

At the end of Episode 4 of Ahsoka, the titular character (played by Rosario Dawson), was transported to a celestial place after a fight with Baylon Skoll (Ray Stevenson). This is when she’s reunited with Anakin (Hayden Christensen).

Their reunion is further explored in the next episode. “I’m here to finish your training,” Anakin tells her before taking out his signature blue lightsaber, saying, “Live… or die.”

Toward the end of their duel, Anakin’s lightsaber blade turns red and his face begins transforming into the face beneath the Darth Vader mask. Ahsoka eventually gains the upper hand in the fight, holding his lightsaber blade to his throat before discarding of it, saying she chooses “to live.”

Anakin’s face slowly becomes normal again, and he then disappears.

This was the most expanded role Hayden Christensen has taken on in the Star Wars universe in recent memory. He first returned in a voice cameo capacity in The Rise of Skywalker before returning in Obi-Wan Kenobi. While he appeared in a number of episodes, he primarily took over the role of Darth Vader and not Anakin. In Ahsoka, he got a full episode devoted to him.

Ahsoka is the self-titled spin-off Star Wars series. Dave Filoni, who created the character for the animated Clone Wars series, wrote all eight episodes of the Disney+ series. Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the late Ray Stevenson, David Tennant, and Lars Mikkelsen all star alongside Rosario Dawson.

Tim Burton responds to ‘disturbing’ AI-Disney mashups

Earlier this year, AI parodies of Wes Anderson took the internet by storm. More were done, this time doing a mashup of Disney and Tim Burton’s style. The director has responded.

In an interview with the Independent, Burton almost seemed offended by the AI mashups. “They had AI do my versions of Disney characters!” he exclaimed. “I can’t describe the feeling it gives you. It reminded me of when other culture say, ‘Don’t take my picture because it is taking away your soul.’”

He was responding to Buzzfeed doing a feature on AI-Disney mashups. The images made Disney princesses look like they were in the universes of Burton’s films such as Corpse Bride or Frankenweenie. While he might not like them, he still acknowledged some of them as “very good.”

“What it does is it sucks something from you,” Burton confessed. “It takes something from your soul or psyche; that is very disturbing, especially if it has to do with you. It’s like a robot taking your humanity, your soul.”

Tim Burton is an accomplished director whose been doing this for nearly 40 years. His first feature film, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, came out in 1985. He would then make classics including Beetlejuice, Batman, and Edward Scissorhands. In 1999, he directed an adaptation of Sleepy Hollow, and rebooted the Planet of the Apes series.

In 2010, Burton directed the live-action Alice in Wonderland film — one of the more memorable Disney live-action remakes. Burton would direct another Disney live-action remake, Dumbo, in 2019. Prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Burton was knee-deep in making Beetlejuice 2 with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder returning. Jenna Ortega, Monica Belluci, and Willem Dafoe will also star in the film.
