Lakers’ LeBron James reacts to Caleb Williams’ awesome crown celebration during USC football game

Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans came out on top of a marquee showdown against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder on Saturday. Among the many who watched the game was no other than Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who got a pleasant surprise when he saw the USC football star quarterback break out a familiar celly on the field.

The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player surely loved the homage paid to him by Williams, who finished the game with a monster stat line. Williams outshined Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and torched the Buffaloes’ defense for a total of 403 passing yards and six touchdowns with just an interception on 30-for-40 completions in a 48-41 victory. Sanders, on the other hand, went 30-for-45 for 371 passing yards and four touchdowns with a pick thrown.

LeBron James has always carried the persona of “The King” since he became a mainstream sports figure decades ago, and he certainly doesn’t mind seeing the USC football star having a royal celebration himself on the field.

Up to this day, LeBron is still recognized as a sports royalty. He is considered an ageless wonder not just in the NBA, but in sports. In fact, he is in the middle of his preparation for his 21st season in the NBA. James is very much aware of his longevity, and while his best days are clearly behind him, he’s still better than most players, who are younger than him. Just last season, James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists across 55 games played with the Purple & Gold.

USC football remains undefeated

With their win on Saturday, the Trojans improved to 5-0 overall in the 2023 college football season, including three wins in conference play.  Prior to defeating the Buffaloes, USC football defeated the Stanford Cardinal and the Arizona State Sun Devils to kick off the Trojans’ Pac-12 schedule. Up ahead for Williams and the Trojans is a matchup against the Arizona Wildcats at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 7. Williams is looking every bit like a strong Heisman Trophy candidate again this season. Playing like a king against Colorado football surely helps his Heisman Trophy stock through five weeks.

Michigan football should be number-one in AP Top 25 Poll after Georgia’s narrow win

The AP Top 25 poll for college football has seen many changes through the first five weeks of the year, but the first and second place spots have remained the same throughout. During all five weeks Georgia football has ranked No. 1 while Michigan comes in second every time.

Both the Wolverines and Bulldogs are 5-0, but the Wolverines have frankly looked like a better team than the two-time defending champions. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win over unranked Auburn Saturday, winning 27-20. Meanwhile, the Wolverines trounced Nebraska 45-7. Michigan has won every game by at least 24 points while Georgia has now had two games within 10 points or less.

At this point in the season, Michigan is simply a more dominant team. This is particularly more evident than ever after the Bulldogs just came away with the win after the game was tied for part of the fourth quarter. This was also Georgia’s first game on the road after playing their first four opponents at home. The Bulldogs notoriously had a “cupcake” schedule coming into the 2023 season, but aren’t dominating the way they did last year when they smothered Auburn 42-10.

Aside from Georgia not blowing out opponents the way they normally would, Michigan’s defense has simply dominated. The Wolverines have not given up more than seven points in a game all season! Even with coach Jim Harbaugh missing the first three games of the year due to a self-imposed suspension, Michigan didn’t a step.

The Wolverines’ offense behind quarterback J.J. McCarthy has room to improve as the third-year quarterback has yet to throw for 300 yards or more than three touchdowns. Still, McCarthy has been accurate outside of one three interception game this year. He hasn’t had more than six incompletions in a game. The Wolverines have also been so good all year that they have not had to put up numbers offensively since they’ve had leads in every game.

Both Georgia and Michigan have yet to face their toughest opponents though, which will truly determine who’s the top team. Michigan will face No. 4 Ohio State and No. 6 Penn State while Georgia has battles against Florida and Ole Miss.

Overall, after this weekend’s slate of games, Michigan football is deserving of taking over the No. 1 spot on the AP poll from Georgia, and knocking the Bulldogs out of first, at least temporarily.

Heat’s Bam Adebayo gets 100% real on being Miami’s ‘culture carrier’ after Dwyane Wade, Udonis Haslem

After losing out on Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks, it is easy to be critical of the Miami Heat organization right now. But one must not forget the reputation Pat Riley, Erik Spoelstra and the entire franchise have built over these past years. Maintaining a strong culture is an arduous task that every other NBA team desperately tries to attain.

Miami, though, is one of the few to achieve it. Doing so requires the players to especially buy into and embody the “Heat Way.” Now that Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem are both officially retired, someone else has to carry that mantle. Bam Adebayo is embracing the responsibility.

“I mean, you can’t run from it,” he told the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang. “The thing about it is it’s not going to be easy. It’s not going to be something that obviously you take for granted. But do I feel like I’m ready? Yes. At this point, I’ve done a lot of stuff in my career in my six years that a lot of dudes haven’t done in their whole career.”

Bam Adebayo was destined to lead this team

Adebayo, who was drafted by the Heat in 2017, is unquestionably one of the franchise’s pillars. He continues to elevate his game, averaging 20.4 points and 9.2 rebounds last season and nearly a double-double in the 2023 NBA playoffs. Simply out, Miami would not have won the Eastern Conference in two of the last three years without this emerging leader.

The two-time All-Star credits his tutelage from the aforementioned South Beach royalty for being able to assume that role.

“So being able to one, obviously, have D-Wade in my ear the first year and a half of my career and then having UD all the way through up to this point, it’s prepared me for that role,” Bam Adebayo said. “It’s prepared me for the standard, it’s prepared me for understanding what this looks like and how it’s supposed to be.”

He doesn’t carry this responsibility alone. Jimmy Butler fully exemplifies the Heat culture and has earned himself a special place in franchise history after just four years with the team. But being a hand-picked building block comes with an extra sense of pride. Adebayo wears it well.

Browns’ statement on Nick Chubb surgery adds clarity to injury recovery timeline

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has undergone successful surgery on his injured left knee on Friday. Now, he’s facing another surgery in the coming months and a long road to recovery.

Chubb sustained the injury during their Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers when safety Mikah Fitzpatrick fell on his knee and caused it to bend awkwardly. The Browns star has been out ever since, though initial reports stated that he only suffered from an MCL tear and that his ACL was just stretched and not torn.

While Cleveland did not give a specific date for his return, the team mentioned that he is expected to return to play in the 2024 season. He’ll also still undergo another surgery to repair his ACL, though it’s unknown how severe it is and if more issues were found.

“Browns running back Nick Chubb underwent successful knee surgery yesterday to repair ligament damage sustained in the September 18th game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Team Head Physician James Voos, MD, performed the surgery at University Hospitals Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute. Yesterday’s surgery repaired damage to his medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament,” the Browns’ statement said.

“As expected, a second surgery will be scheduled to repair his anterior cruciate ligament in the coming months. Estimated recovery time from the surgeries indicate that Nick would be able to return to play at some point in the 2024 season.”

The good news for Nick Chubb is that the injury isn’t career-ending. There were fears that’s the case since the Browns RB also tore his left ACL while in college. Another one would have been a devastating blow to him.

Now the Browns will just have to be patient and pray for the best in his upcoming surgery and recovery. It surely won’t be an easy journey back, though the important thing is he has a clear path to getting 100 percent healthy once again.

Hopefully, Chubb will be able to return sooner rather than later. After all, the Browns are just more fun to watch with him on the field. Not to mention that they are more  dangerous.

Bills star Von Miller set to take massive step towards return from ACL injury

Buffalo Bills defensive end Von Miller seems to be progressing well in his recovery from ACL injury, so much so that he’s ready to take the next step in his return.

The Bills placed Miller on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list before the 2023 season started, making him ineligible to play in the first four games of the campaign. After Week 4 when he can come off the PUP list, however, Buffalo has a five-week period to assess whether they can field their star DE or not.

When Miller becomes eligible on Monday, though, the expectation is he’s ready to join the team in practices as he works his way back to game shape, per Adam Schefter of  ESPN.

It is worth noting that the Bills don’t know the condition that Miller is in. He hasn’t played since tearing his ACL during Thanksgiving Day back in the 2022 campaign, so it surely will take some time before the 34-year-old pass-rusher goes back to 100 percent.

“The Bills still are unsure on a specific timetable for Miller, who did not practice throughout the summer. But the Bills want to see what type of shape Miller is in and will be cautious as they bring back the veteran linebacker, according to a source,” Schefter added in his report.

For what it’s worth, though, Von Miller did say earlier this September that he’s in a good place physically and mentally, which should bode well as he returns to practice with the team.

“Physically I feel good, I just needed more time for football in general, not necessarily my knee. Ultimately it wasn’t my decision and that’s what makes Brandon Beane the best GM in all of sports. I trust the Bills like no other team that I’ve been on…I feel good, I just needed more time for my overall health,” Miller said at the time.

In a separate interview, Miller shared: “I feel good, mentally, I’m in a better place than I’ve ever been in my career… I’m in a great spot.”

Hopefully, Miller can return to his top form sooner rather than later. The Bills could certainly use his presence on defense as they look to establish themselves as the top team in the AFC East.

Inside Troy Aikman’s $5.4 million former mansion, with photos

Troy Aikman carved out a decorated NFL career as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. He helped deliver three Super Bowl titles and was the MVP of Super Bowl XXXVII. Aikman also has six Pro Bowl appearances. Nowadays, Aikman spends his time as a commentator for FOX.

Given Aikman’s decorated career, have you ever wondered how a guy like him lives? Well, wonder no more. This article features Troy Aikman’s $5.4 million former mansion in Dallas.

In 2013, Aikman was given the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award. Around the same time, he also rewarded himself by picking up a $4.25 million home in the Highland Park neighborhood of Dallas, which was quite a bargain. Originally, the previous owner listed the mansion with an asking price for as much as $6.85 million.

But after just two years of living there, the three-time Super Bowl champion decided to unload the property. In fact, the Super Bowl XXXVII MVP successfully sold the Highland Park property for $5.4 million.

Here are some photos of Troy Aikman’s $5.4 million former mansion in Dallas.

Originally constructed in 2007, Aikman’s former mansion encompasses 10,662 square feet of living space. It includes five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

Although Aikman no longer owns the $5.4 million Dallas mansion, he still owns another $24 million mansion in the same Highland Park neighborhood. The $24 million property was once considered the priciest home in Texas. However, Aikman never successfully unloaded the estate.

Mauricio Umansky back tracks statements on marriage status with Kyle Richards

Mauricio Umansky is walking back his previous statements he made about his marriage status with Kyle Richards. The luxury real estate broker recently claimed that he and his wife “not separated” but it seems as though that is not the currently true.

“We were dealing with our own things, kind of, super quietly and internally, just our own issues,” he explained on the latest episode of The Agency’s Red Mic podcast in an episode that was uploaded Thursday (Sept. 28). “I mean, certainly, we’re not separated. We’re not divorced at this point. We are not any of that stuff.”

Mauricio Umansky and Kyle Richards have been married for 27 years, and he admitted that this year has just been a tough one.

“You know, Kyle and I are blessed, where we actually had 26 years that we did not have a bad year and I know most marriages have bad months, bad weeks [and] bad years.”

However, the next day, he spoke to TMZ and claims that the two are separated but are looking to fix their marriage internally.

“Kyle and I are human beings. We have emotions, we have feelings, we’re going through a really hard time. We are currently separated,” Umansky told TMZ on Friday (Sept. 29). “We are not talking about divorce. We’re trying to deal with this stuff internally, with ourselves, privately.”

“It’s very hard when people interpret everything you’ve said. When I answered the question on that podcast about where we stand, the question was, ‘Did Kyle and I plant the story in order to create ratings?’ And the answer was we did not plant the story.”

The most recent time Richards has spoken up about their marriage was during an Amazon Live event when a fan asked how her relationship with her husband was going.

“[It] has been very hard to do,” she said about speaking on their relationship. “[because] it’s playing out with so many people having eyes on us and [with us] being in the public eye.”

She told the fan that they get along well but did not want to give any more details.

“That’s what I’m going to share with you,” Richards said adding that it is “just too much to deal with right now.”

The couple shares daughters Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15. Umansky is also the stepfather to Richards’ oldest daughter Farrah Aldjufire, 32, who she shared with ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie. Richards and Aldjufire were married from 1988–1992.

Inside Carmelo Anthony’s incredible 13,000-square-foot mansion, with photos

Carmelo Anthony was once one of the most prolific scorers in the NBA’s modern era. The forward, with the sweet shooting stroke, Anthony garnered 10 All-Star Game appearances and six All-NBA selections. That isn’t including his run of three Olympic gold medals. Carmelo sold his former mansion in Beverley Grove, Calif., earlier this year for a price of $3 million.

Have you ever wondered how a retired NBA player lives? Well, we are about to find out. This article features Carmelo Anthony’s 13,000-square-foot mansion in Westchester, N.Y.

Carmelo is a lover of architecture and houses. He previously resided in a 4,500-square-foot condo in Chelsea, N.Y. The New York native loved the space while playing with the Knicks but realized he needed more room in retirement.

“The idea for the house [and the vision for] this space was to create my own personal [rotating] art gallery,” he says. Throughout the home, a mix of decor and a range of artworks span a variety of styles, periods, and continents.

He had assistance with the design of his home by event planner and designer Cassandre Bonhomme. “I like to try different things,” Bonhomme says. “I don’t want to be bland or boring.”

Here are photos of Carmelo Anthony’s incredible 13,000 square-foot-mansion in Westchester.

The dining room has a custom table and was in Carmelo’s old office in Red Hook in Brooklyn.

Carmelo kept most kitchen elements the same, except for a large Hebru Brantley painting of the popular rap group N.W.A.

Carmelo likes to show off artifacts from his various travels around the world. He is most proud of figurines from his journeys in Africa.

Carmelo’s office is the dream of any individual who has to do work from home. He has custom chairs and desks that he designed himself and a Nathaniel Mary Quinn painting on the wall.

The music room is one of Anthony’s favorite elements of the house. A perfect representation of the “modern vintage” aesthetic.

Despite growing up in New York where there isn’t much outdoor room, Anthony loves to have a space where he can relax in the summer. His new backyard includes a pool and basketball court.

Anthony’s bedroom is completed with a custom bed that is fashioned to accommodate his 6-foot-7 frame.

Who wouldn’t want to have this room in their house? Anthony and Bonhomme said that organizing and maintaining his vintage shoe collection was one of the toughest parts of the move. They converted a bedroom into a massive shoe closet.

The bar is incorporated with Anthony’s favorite color, red. He has red velvet seat coverings and a red leather loveseat.

One of Anthony’s heroes is adorned on the walls of his first-floor bathroom. The wallpaper includes licensed replicas of Andy Warhol’s depiction of Muhammad Ali.

For a walkthrough of the house, watch Carmelo give a tour on YouTube.

This type of luxury in real estate doesn’t come cheaply, but it’s little problem for Anthony, who is practically a lock to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. His success in the NBA and earning through endorsements has helped Anthony amass a net worth of $160 million.

This is all we know about Carmelo Anthony’s incredible 13,000-square-foot mansion.

Alabama A&M sells out stadium for first time in school history

Alabama A&M has set an amazing milestone for this year’s homecoming, as the homecoming game vs. Tuskegee is the first stadium sellout in school history per a report by local affiliate WAAY. This afternoon, the Bulldogs will face historic SIAC rival Tuskegee University, who is known for their fan base’s aptness to travel to away venues, at Louis Crews Stadium

Alabama A&M Athletic Director Paul Bryant says that the sold-out attendance is due to the overall growth of the institution.

“We knew we were going to bring a different type of synergy here and everyone is just excited about what’s happening on the hill. It’s not just athletics. It’s the whole institution.”

Alabama A&M is indeed seeing exponential growth in several facets of the university. The Bulldogs reported that they welcomed over 2,000 first-time students in August from 35 states and 7 countries. Alabama A&M experienced a surge in applications this Spring, receiving a record-breaking number of 15,000 applicants, representing a 30 percent increase compared to the previous recruitment cycle. Transfer applications also rose 16 percent.

“This historic moment is just the beginning,” said Braque Talley, the Vice President of Student Affairs said in regards to the rise in enrollment in an August statement obtained by HBCU Pulse. “Our admissions staff, alumni, and entire university community have come together to celebrate this achievement. It motivates us to continue making history together.”

Alabama A&M will face off against Tuskegee University at 3 PM EST. The game renews a storied rivalry between the two Alabama-based programs. Alabama A&M and Tuskegee first faced off in 1932 and then went two decades without crossing paths. However, from 1963 to 1999, they clashed each year, enjoying a 35-year tenure as conference rivals in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

The series came to an end in 2000 when Alabama A&M transitioned to NCAA Division I after joining the SWAC in 1998. Nevertheless, from 2008 to 2009, and again from 2011 to 2014, Alabama A&M and Tuskegee reignited their rivalry with two-game sets. Most recently, they met in Mobile, Ala., for the 2021 Gulf Coast Challenge. As it stands, Alabama A&M holds the edge in the all-time series, leading 29-20-3.

The game will be broadcast on HBCU Go at 3 PM EST.
