Agent of Juve target Gabriel Jesus reveals interested clubs and Arsenal talks

Gabriel Jesus’ agent Marcelo Pettinati reveals that seven clubs are interested in the Manchester City star and Juventus target and that talks with Arsenal have already begun.

The Brazil international is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season. Pep Guardiola’s side will welcome Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland in 2022-23 meaning that there will be even fewer playing time for Gabriel Jesus who has managed 13 goals in 39 appearances this season.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Juventus and his agent has confirmed that several clubs are interested in securing his services at the end of the season.

“We had discussions with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus and yes, we like the project, it’s a serious possibility, so we’re discussing”, he told Fabrizio Romano.

“There are six more clubs interested in Gabriel Jesus. He’s now focused on final games with Manchester City, then we’ll see what happens.”

Juventus are on the lookout for a replacement for Paulo Dybala, who will leave the club as a free agent in the summer.

Alvaro Morata and Federico Bernardeschi are also likely to leave Turin. The Spaniard’s loan at the Allianz Stadium ends in June, while Bernardeschi is unwilling to extend his expiring contract by taking a pay cut. Gabriel Jesus’ Manchester City contract runs out in 2023.

‘It’s not good’ Mourinho responds to Matic transfer links

José Mourinho says Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic is a ‘fantastic player’ but refuses to speculate on his possible move to Roma.

Matic sees his contract at Old Trafford expire in June 2023 and has emerged as one of the targets for the Giallorossi in the summer.

Mourinho has been looking for a new central midfielder since last year and his needs were partially met when the club loaned Sergio Oliveira from Porto in January.

Matic has already played twice under Mourinho, first at Chelsea and then at Manchester United. The Serbia international has featured in 159 games under the Special One, more than with any other coach.

Mourinho reveals truth about his Roma future and rapport with Mkhitaryan

“I never like to speak about players, I don’t think it’s good for me, the club, the players,” Mourinho told Sky Sports News UK.

“Everybody knows my relationship with Nemanja, he’s one of the guys with my trust. We won together, we fought together in United too.

“He’s a fantastic player but that’s the kind of answer that is not good for me or for the player.”

During his interview with the British broadcasters, Mourinho also touched on his future at Roma and his rapport with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Chris Smalling. Mourinho signed a three-year deal at Roma last year and has conquered the first European Final for the club in 31 years.

Juventus transfers: Chiellini receives offer from MLS

Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini has reportedly been offered a contract by MLS side LAFC.

The Italy international sees his Juventus contract expire in 2023 but is ready to leave the club at the end of the season following Italy’s failed attempt to qualify for Qatar 2022.

The experienced defender must decide whether to retire or continue his career for one more season abroad. According to The Athletic, he has received an offer to play in the MLS in 2022-23.

According to the report ‘LAFC did not offer Chiellini a designated player contract, meaning they would not be able to pay the veteran Italian more than $1.65 million (£1.31 million) for the 2023 campaign.’

Chiellini postpones announcement on his future and aims dig at Inter

Vancouver Whitecaps are also considering a move for the Azzurri captain, who will play his final game with the national team in June against Argentina.

Chiellini hasn’t yet confirmed that he will leave Juventus in the summer but suggested so during a press conference attended by Football Italia yesterday.

The Bianconeri captain revealed that he could have retired after Italy’s triumph at Euro 2020 last summer or even if VAR hadn’t disallowed Marko Arnautovic’s goal against the Azzurri in the Round of 16.

ADL meets Napoli star Fabian in bid to ward off Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis met Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal target Fabian Ruiz on Monday night, offering him a new contract.

The Spain international sees his current deal expire in June 2023 and the Partenopei will be forced to sell him in the summer if the player refuses to extend his stay at the Stadio Maradona.

Real Madrid, Arsenal and Barcelona are keen on the 26-year-old, who had claimed in February that he’d be happy to return to Spain one day. Il Mattino confirms that Carlo Ancelotti is willing to reunite with the Spaniard at the Estadio Bernabeu.

Fabian Ruiz opens door to Barcelona, Real Madrid move and makes Messi admission

Napoli’s hopes to extend with their star seemed over only a few weeks ago, but De Laurentiis hasn’t given up, according to Il Corriere dello Sport. The Napoli chairman reportedly met Fabian after a team dinner on Monday night, offering him a new €3.5m-a-year contract until 2027.

The Spaniard is on a €1.5m-a-year deal at the Stadio Maradona and despite their need to balance the books, Napoli are willing to offer their star a pay rise, given that they will cut their wage bill with the departures of Faouzi Ghoulam, Lorenzo Insigne and, perhaps David Ospina and Kevin Malcuit.

Why Haaland didn’t join Juventus in 2017

Erling Haaland has signed with Manchester City, but Juventus could have secured his services in 2017 when he went to Turin to watch a game at the Allianz Stadium.

The Borussia Dortmund star was under contract with Molde at that time but had already attracted the interest of many clubs in Europe, including Juventus. The Serie A giants had been in talks with his agent Mino Raiola and invited the striker and his father to watch a game at the Allianz Stadium.

He was an unknown player to many football fans at that time and a few years later, a picture from that night showing Haaland wearing a Juventus hat became viral.

Juventus were ready to pay €4m to secure his services, but the striker snubbed a move to Turin as the Old Lady had planned to send him out on loan or let him play for one season in their U23 team in Italy’s third division.

“Things must be put into context,” Juventus director Federico Cherubini told Tuttosport in September.

“Young players can be scared about going out on loan, we were at the beginning of our U23 project and perhaps the perspective we offered him wasn’t too exciting.

“Maybe the idea of going out on loan wasn’t ideal for a player like him. Perhaps, today things would be different.”

Totti: ‘How Roma will make Mourinho happy’

Roma legend Francesco Totti confirms he will go to Tirana to watch the Conference League Final between Roma and Feyenoord and says the Giallorossi will make José Mourinho happy with new signings over the summer.

The Serie A side have qualified for their first European Final in 31 years and could win their first trophy since 2008. Francesco Totti was part of the team that lifted the Coppa Italia under Luciano Spalletti more than ten years ago and will follow Mourinho’s team in Tirana on May 25.

“We haven’t played a Final for a long time and it’s vital to lift a trophy. We’ll go to Tirana with a great desire, I’ll be there as well,” he told reporters at an event before tonight’s Coppa Italia Final.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner added that he’d rate Roma’s season 5.5 so far.

All the Mourinho and Roma complaints about referees and VAR

The Giallorossi, especially their coach Mourinho, have complained because of a controversial penalty kick awarded to Fiorentina on Monday night.

“What happened in Florence is one of the many episodes not favourable to Roma. If VAR doesn’t help referees, it becomes more complicated,” said Totti.

“Mourinho is one of the best coaches in the world and I am sure the club will do everything to make him happy by signing the right players for him. Roma must improve every year, with or without a director.”

The last Totti line refers to the possibility of returning to the club with an operative role, but for now, both Roma and the former striker have been elusive about the matter.

Origi free to join Milan as Liverpool clause not triggered

Divock Origi is free to sign for Milan as a free agent as he has failed to reach the number of appearances necessary to extend his Liverpool contract by one more season.

The Belgium international is in advanced talks over a free move to San Siro in the summer. According to multiple reports, he will sign a €4m-a-year deal with the Rossoneri after his contract with Liverpool expires.

According to The Athletic, Origi has failed to reach the number of appearances needed to extend his contract at Anfield until 2023. Therefore, he will leave the club on a free transfer.

The report confirms that Milan are in advanced talks with the 27-year-old. Origi will likely be only the first signing to strengthen Milan’s attack in 2022-23. Elliott are in talks with Investcorp and RedBird Capital Partners over the club’s takeover, which should be completed by the end of the season. The Rossoneri will bring in more attacking reinforcements in the summer, regardless of the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Hamsik: ‘Insigne and I have a similar story at Napoli’

Napoli legend Marek Hamsik sees similarities between his and Lorenzo Insigne’s farewell to the club and confirms he snubbed moves to Juventus, Milan and Inter.

Hamsik left Napoli in February 2019 after becoming the player with the most appearances and goals across all competitions. His contract at the club would have expired in 2020.

“It was a huge love story. I have many friends at the club. I talk to Aurelio De Laurentiis when I can, who has always shown me his affection. I am in touch with Maurizio Micheli, Napoli’s chief scout. I owe him a lot. He is the one who brought me to Italy [at Brescia] for the first time,” he told Il Corriere dello Sport.

Hamsik didn’t have a proper farewell game before leaving the club and sees similarities between his farewell and Lorenzo Insigne’s. The Italy international will join Toronto as a free agent in June.

“Lorenzo’s history is very similar to mine. Everything happened very quickly, the season was ongoing when I left,” said Hamsik.

“However, it’s never too late to meet again, perhaps we could organise a game at the San Paolo [Stadio Maradona now]. If they want me to return with a role at the club after the end of my career, I’d be ready.

“I didn’t forget anything. The Coppa Italia, the Supercups, emotions, memories. A Serie A title would have been deserved, we were really close.”

Massimiliano Allegri wanted to sign Hamsik at Milan and Juventus, while Walter Mazzarri tried to bring him to Inter, but Hamsik never thought about leaving Naples.

“Now I can say that I was proud to attract interest from an important coach such as Allegri,” he said.

“I never talked to him directly, but I know he considered me worthy of playing with him and that he would be pleased [to have me in his teams].”

“Inter? I can’t deny it, but I never thought about leaving Napoli. I could have never done it.”
