Gegen die San Jose Sharks um Stanley-Cup-Sieger Nico Sturm holten die Red Wings ein 3:2 nach Verlängerung. Beide Deutsche blieben bei jeweils zwei Torschüssen ohne Scorerpunkt, Seider hatte mit 23:26 Minuten die längste Eiszeit bei den Feldspielern Detroits. Während die “Motor City” den zwölften Rang im Osten belegt, sind die Sharks 13. in der Western Conference – Play-off-Teilnahme in weiter Ferne.

Besser sieht es für die Buffalo Sabres zumindest im Kampf um eine Wildcard aus. Durch das 5:3 bei den St. Louis Blues hielt das Team von den Niagarafällen den Rückstand bei drei Punkten. Der junge Deutsche JJ Peterka (21) steuerte dabei eine Vorlage bei, seine zwölfte in der laufenden Saison. Für die Sabres war es der vierte Erfolg in Serie.

Head Coach Jared Bednar holte unterdessen einen Rekord in Diensten der Colorado Avalanche. Der 50-jährige Kanadier feierte im 500. Spiel für die Franchise aus Colorado den 266. Sieg und stellte damit einen neuen Avalanche-Bestwert auf. Den alten hatte Michel Bergeron gehalten. “Ich bin froh, dass das Thema jetzt erledigt ist”, sagte Bednar. “Jetzt können wir über etwas anderes reden.”

Beim 3:2 über die Washington Capitals – der sechste Sieg in Serie für Titelverteidiger Colorado – erzielte Alexander Ovechkin sein 31. Saisontor für die US-Hauptstädter und steht nun insgesamt bei 811 Treffern. Eishockey-Ikone Wayne Gretzky führt mit 894 Erfolgen vor “Ovi”.

Zehn Spiele 2023, neun Siege: Die Bilanz der derzeitigen Nummer eins in der NHL kann sich sehen lassen. Auch San Jose war nicht in der Lage, Boston auch nur annähernd zu gefährden. Am Ende triumphierten die Bruins souverän, die beiden Goalies Linus Ullmark (17 Schüsse abgewehrt) und Jeremy Swayman (1) feierten einen Shutout beim 4:0 der Bruins gegen die Sharks.

Schon nach acht Minuten brachte Hampus Lindholm die Bruins in Führung, die Charlie McAvoy (25.) und Nick Foligno (28.) im Mitteldrittel ausbauten. David Pastrnak setzte für die überlegenen Bruins in der 43. Minuten den 4:0-Schlusspunkt. Der 27-jährige Sturm stand 15:30 Minuten für die Sharks auf dem Eis, blieb aber ohne Schuss auf das Tor.

San Jose, das seit Mitte März 2016 nicht mehr gegen die Bruins gewonnen hat und gegen keinen anderen Gegner eine längere Negativserie vorweist, ist nach der Pleite gegen den Angstgegner weiter Vorletzter in der Pacific Division.

Devils punkten erneut – 30. Saisontor von Hughes

Stark unterwegs ist neben den Bruins auch New Jersey, das zum siebten Mal hintereinander punkten konnte. “Wir versuchen noch ein Play-off-Team zu werden”, meinte Devils-Trainer Lindy Ruff vor der Partie gegen Pittsburgh – nach dem 2:1 nach Verlängerung ist sein Team auf dem besten Weg dazu. Mit 64 Punkten nach 46 Spielen belegt New Jersey den zweiten Platz in der Metropolitan Division, zwei Punkte hinter den Carolina Hurricanes. Die Devils haben zudem 13 Zähler Vorsprung auf den ersten Nicht-Play-off-Platz.

Der 21-jährige Jack Hughes, brachte die Devils in der 1. Minute mit seinem bereits 30. Saisontor in Führung.  Hughes schreib damit ein bisschen Geschichte, denn er ist erst der zweite Spieler in der Devils-Historie, der vor seinem 22. Geburtstag diese Marke knackte. Penguins-Superstar Sidney Crosby glich in der 7. Minute aus, ehe Dougie Hamilton in der Overtime den Sieg für New Jersey sicherstellte.
