Pan American Games Countdown Day

“Three years to go! Plus que trois ans!”

July 10, 2012, was officially proclaimed Pan Am/Parapan Am Day—three years to the day we officially begin the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games!

Over 1,000 children and youth joined us at Nathan Phillips Square to ignite the spirit of the Games and to celebrate sport and culture in the city of Toronto. Special guests, Parapan gold medallist Summer Mortimer and four- time Olympian Curt Harnett, along with musical sensation Kardinal Offishal, joined us as we raised the official PASO (Pan American Sports Organization) and APC (American Paralympic Committee) flags to designate the day.

Children and families also enjoyed participating in various Pan/Parapan Am sports—including wheelchair basketball, archery, boxing and baseball—at the TO2015 Community Tour. Attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy dance performances by Just BGRAPHIC; build sport structures out of LEGO; and make musical instruments from recycled materials. The community countdown was a huge success and we look forward to celebrating with you next year!
