Newly-named Brazilian Beach Volleyball Olympic team validates Rio 2016 berth

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, September 6, 2015 – On Tuesday three blocks away from the iconic beach, Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca were named as one of the two women’s teams to represent Brazil in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games next August in the South American coastal city. Here Sunday on Copacabana where the Rio Summer Games will be held, Talita and Larissa validated the spot in the Rio Olympics by defeating newly-crowned FIVB world champions and compatriots Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas 2-1 (32-30, 18-21, 15-12) in a 71-minute gold medal match at the US$175,000 Rio Open before a jam-packed stadium court on the iconic beach.
